What's In Your Pet First Aid Kit?

First aid kits should be essential in your home; not just for you but for your pet too! If your pet gets an injury, they may need a little extra care until they can see the vet. We suggest having the following on hand to handle most situations your pet might get into!

For any serious wounds, please take your pet to the veterinarian right away.

HoneyCure

HoneyCure is a great product to be in your kit! Our product helps with wounds such as burns, scrapes, cuts, bites, and hot spots. It is easy to use and helps soothe your pet’s wound while also acting as a barrier against germs, dirt, and debris. You can get HoneyCure through our online store or a local pet store near you!

Bandages & Gauze

Bandage or gauze can be a temporary cover before taking your pet to the vet. It can provide support or help protect the wound from the outside environment. If you are using HoneyCure, we recommend covering the wound with a bandage after for the best healing results! When wrapping a wound with a bandage or gauze, make sure it isn’t too tight.

Gloves, Scissors, and a Flashlight

There are a few small items that will make taking care of your pet easier. Gloves in your first aid kit will help keep you safe and your pet’s wound clean. Make sure to have a few pairs just in case they rip, or you need an extra set of hands to help you out. You might need scissors to cut the right amount of bandage or gauze to wrap a wound.  Lastly, a flashlight is good to assess the wound and see what your next step is going to be.

Emergency Contact Information

If you have any questions, it is good to have your veterinarian’s number handy! You should also put your nearest emergency clinic and animal poison control information in your kit too.

Every six months, check your kit to make sure everything is in stock and up to date. There are other things that you can put in, but make sure not to overload it so that you can find what you need. It’s always good to be calm and prepared for when those small accidents happen!
